How my Nature Spot Changed

Author Imitation

Dear Future Generations,

I am writing this to you while sitting with my back pressed against a strong and sturdy palm tree. This tree was here long before I was, and it will be here a long time after both me and you. I think of you all the time. I think of you when I see the most perfect sunset over the ocean. I think of you when I see lightning crack down just over the horizon and hear the thunder roll over the landscape. I think of you while I sit against this strong and sturdy tree, whose roots reach deep into the ground. I hope one day you have one place, one spot in nature that has been undisturbed. A place where you can climb and play, a place where you can explore, a place where you can let your imagination run as wild as the nature that surrounds you. I hope that my generation has not stripped you of this fundamental right to be one with nature. But perhaps my biggest hope for you is that you know the power of nature. As I sit here, I think of all of the things these trees have stood through. I think of all the events of nature they have survived, and I hope you know that you are as strong and sturdy as the trees you will one day sit up against. And I hope you embrace the pure, raw power of nature that is both inside of you and all around you, and I hope this brings you peace no matter where you are.
